Does Christmas seem to sneak up on you every year? You know that it is always December 25th….but for some reason you are never prepared! The decorating, the shopping and the money…..they all stress you out.
Maybe your list of family members that you think you need to buy for is longer than ever and you have NO idea what to buy for anyone.
Or, maybe you didn’t save any money all year and now you are trying to figure out how to pay for all of those presents?
What is a budget…really?
Is it - 1) a method of keeping track of money spent or 2) is it a way to keep your spending on track?
Do you tell your money what to do? Or, does your money tell you where it needs to go?
A budget is a plan to name each one of your dollars so that YOU tell them where to go and not have those dollars bossing you around. I don’t know about you….but I LOVE to be in charge. Wouldn’t you like to be the boss of your money?
As adults, we have budgets for now and budgets for the future. How will your children/grand children know how to save for the future if we don’t show them? How will they know that having $1,000 in their checking account does not mean that it can all be spent on new clothes or a new phone? What about the auto insurance or the rent? When we begin teaching them at an early age, for the most part, it becomes routine. Kinda like brushing their teeth or combing their hair or getting dressed before they leave the house.
I don’t know about you, but I am always looking for ways to save money. I love earning interest. All the money I can save will go in the bank to earn….and earn some more! It did not used to be that way. At one point in my life I didn't save any money at all. And then, the money I saved was used to pay off debt. If you are tired of paying and not earning…
Does the word budget make you sweat? Or make you squirm in your seat? Or maybe bring out the fight in you? Whenever my husband would ask me about money (where it went, how much was left, did I save any) I would immediately get defensive…
