4th of July Cards - Video Tutorial and a FREE SVG file for your Cricut

4th of July cards|positivelyjane

Seasonal cards are some of my favorite to make. I have been on vacation and have had a ton of family so this year I am a little behind with these 4th of July cards. I went thru my stash looking for all the proper supplies, and I realized that I did not have a great cover plate to use for the background - so, I designed one myself and cut it out on my Cricut Maker. I cut it out of heavy weight cardstock and glued 2/3 layers together. As the backgrounds were cutting I was able to work on other parts of my cards and, best of all, it was free! And, I was multi tasking!

You can find the SVG file for you Cricut in my FREE Resource Library - it is available for you to download and use in your own projects on your Cricut Machine too! I love my Cricut machine and hope to have many other files and ideas for you to use on your cards.

For this 1st card I cut 2 layers of navy cardstock - with my Cricut Maker. I duplicated the Star Coverplate file and had them both cut out one after the other. (You can find it in my FREE Resource Library). I used the My Favorite Things Celebrate Die for the sentiment. There are 3 layers of Neenah 110# White cardstock with the colored layer on top. I used 1/2” purple tape, Lawn Fawn Lobster Ink and Stampin Up Night of Navy Ink for the die cut using Tim Holtz Mini Ink Blending Tool (SBC | EH) and Round Foam (SBC | EH). I put a layer of Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glimmer Gloss (SBC | EH) on the star background for a nice glimmery look. The Little Things Blueberry and Cherry Jewels complete the card.

I used the PaperTrey Ink Stripe Coverplate for the blue stripes in back. There are 2 layers. There is one layer of stars on top. (You can find it in my FREE Resource Library). I cut a piece of Ellen Hutson 40# vellum for the center. I then cut multiple colors of stars from the Honey Bee Stamps Stacking Stars die set (SBC | EH). I then added the Little Things Blueberry Jewels. Inside this card is the die cut ‘Celebrate’ from matching red cardstock which is My Favorite Things Wild Cherry.

For my last card I used a navy card base with 2 layers of white stars on top. (You can find it in my FREE Resource Library). The red strips are My Favorite Things Red Hot cardstock. I layered 3 colors of cardstock for the Celebrate Die - red, white and blue - made sense to me! I put a layer of Nuvo Crystal Glaze (SBC |EH) on the top of the die cut. The glitter stars (with 1 layer of white behind) are cut from Simon Says Stars Parade die.

And that is all for today. Have a safe and happy 4th of July - you still have a few more days to get these cards in the mail! And the Stars Coverplate will be a breeze!

Big Hugs,

Jane
